For the second consecutive month, junior Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) has been named the Zips’ Student-Athlete of the Month, presented by The University of Akron, for April.
Geier helped women’s tennis to a 23-4 overall record and a second-place finish in the Mid-American Conference.
In April, Geier was named the 2017 Mid-American Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year and a first-team All-MAC selection. Geier led the Zips at No. 1 singles with a 23-2 overall record, including 7-1 in MAC play this spring. She finished the year at 30-3 in singles action, including 23-2 this spring. Geier finished the month (season) with five consecutive singles victories.
In April, the team captain earned MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week (April 12), singles Player of the Week (April 12), and Zips’ Student-Athlete of the Week (April 10).
Recently named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 5 At-Large team, Geier is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete.
